Welcome to my 195x Chevy Task-Force project journal.
In doing my research for this project, I found other's websites to be a great
source of information, and good for some laughs. This journal
will follow my progress and hopefully keep you entertained.
How to start? Well, I guess I will tell you a little of the who, what,
where, when and why.
- Who? - I have very little mechanical experience, but I love doing this
type of stuff. I had attempted to restore an '82 Chevy Full-Size
Blazer a few years back. I didn't do my research, so I had a very hard
time finding stuff for that year model. The mechanicals weren't a
problem, but finding shops that were willing and reliable was. I got
the interior looking good, but never did get the exhaust system working
right and couldn't find anyone willing to rewire the vehicle. After a
couple of years, the engine was getting tired, so I sold the Blazer.
- What? - I'm looking for a 1955 - 1959, 1/2 ton, Task Force
truck. (click here for a little history)
- Where? - I'm in the Houston, TX area.
- When? - I'm not giving myself a timeline for this project. It will
happen as time and finances allow.
- Why? - I have always been a Chevy fan, and
have owned several Chevy Trucks. My latest was an Avalanche. I
loved that truck! My wife has gone back to school and so I decided to
give up the Avalanche for financial reasons. I've been riding my
Harley ever since (and loving it!) However, we are always in the need
of a truck, and so I decided I should get a "beater" to solve the problem.
I started looking into an early '90's and working my way back through the
years. I have always had a love for 50's-60's era vehicles, so I have worked my
way down into those years. Now I have convinced myself that I don't
need a "work truck", I need a classic!
